Nelson
The Suter Art Gallery in Nelson was a spectacular project we had the privilege to work on, involving the renovation of one of New Zealand’s oldest and most impressive public art galleries. Located beside the Queens Gardens on the edge of downtown Nelson, this historic building serves as a contemporary gallery, a 150-seat theatre, an educational space, a popular cafĂ©, and a gallery store filled with beautiful objects.
The renovation began in 2015 and was completed in 2016, preserving the original gallery and the Suter Theatre building while integrating them into a modern structure. This new addition provided expanded gallery spaces, educational facilities, offices, storage, and a grand entrance lobby. Throughout the complex, we installed all-new power and lighting systems, including switchboards and controllers, with specialist lighting tailored for the gallery spaces. A KNX control system was implemented, allowing staff to configure the lighting for each exhibition with the touch of a button, ensuring the perfect ambiance for every display.
